My 32th birthday

Nothing special, no gift, some wishes from friend. Actually,I felt nothing special. At the end of the day, as my birthday ritual, I open my bible and looking for God's direction for the year ahead. And yes, He is faithful, He keep show me the way and remind me as I seek Him.

This year was awesome. Yes,God give us more than we ask and think. My journey was awesome. The last one hour, the euro trip with yosep, the jokowi basuki parody, the mnc christmas. Everything is awesome!
I still remember when I start this year when I still have no plan for this year's highlight
Of my life. No plan yet for the euro trip, the last one hour, jokowi basuki parody. And looking back from this moment's point of view, 1 thing only I can say: this must be God!

So, what God said for me tonight is:
Ulangan 10:12-21,11:8-32.

guide to write a screenplay

How to Write a Screenplay: Script & Screenwriting Tips

By The Writers Store
It's easy to feel intimidated by the thought of writing a screenplay. The rules! The formatting! The binding! Don't let the seemingly endless parade of screenwriting elements scare you away from writing your first script. Since a familiarity with the basics of the craft is half the battle, The Writers Store has created this handy overview on how to write a screenplay to help you get up to speed on screenwriting fundamentals.
Combine that with the right software, books and supplies, and you'll be ready to type FADE IN before you know it.

Sample Screenplay Page

Sample Screenplay

What is a Screenplay?

In the most basic terms, a screenplay is a 90-120 page document written in Courier 12pt font on 8 1/2" x 11" bright white three-hole punched paper. Wondering why Courier font is used? It's a timing issue. One formatted script page in Courier font equals roughly one minute of screen time. That's why the average page count of a screenplay should come in between 90 and 120 pages. Comedies tend to be on the shorter side (90 pages, or 1 ½ hours) while Dramas run longer (120 pages, or 2 hours).
A screenplay can be an original piece, or based on a true story or previously written piece, like a novel, stage play or newspaper article. At its heart, a screenplay is a blueprint for the film it will one day become. Professionals on the set including the producer, director, set designer and actors all translate the screenwriter's vision using their individual talents. Since the creation of a film is ultimately a collaborative art, the screenwriter must be aware of each person's role and as such, the script should reflect the writer's knowledge.
For example, it's crucial to remember that film is primarily a visual medium. As a screenwriter, you must show what's happening in a story, rather than tell. A 2-page inner monologue may work well for a novel, but is the kiss of death in a script. The very nature of screenwriting is based on how to show a story on a screen, and pivotal moments can be conveyed through something as simple as a look on an actor's face. Let's take a look at what a screenplay's structure looks like.

The First Page of a Screenplay

While screenplay formatting software such as Final Draft, Movie Magic Screenwriter, Movie Outline and Montage frees you from having to learn the nitty-gritty of margins and indents, it's good to have a grasp of the general spacing standards.
The top, bottom and right margins of a screenplay are 1". The left margin is 1.5". The extra half-inch of white space to the left of a script page allows for binding with brads, yet still imparts a feeling of vertical balance of the text on the page. The entire document should be single-spaced.
The very first item on the first page should be the words FADE IN:. Note: the first page is never numbered. Subsequent page numbers appear in the upper right hand corner, 0.5" from the top of the page, flush right to the margin.

Screenplay Elements

Below is a list of items (with definitions) that make up the screenplay format, along with indenting information. Again, screenplay software will automatically format all these elements, but a screenwriter must have a working knowledge of the definitions to know when to use each one.
Scene Heading
Indent: Left: 0.0" Right: 0.0" Width: 6.0"
A scene heading is a one-line description of the location and time of day of a scene, also known as a "slugline." It should always be in CAPS.
Example: EXT. WRITERS STORE - DAY reveals that the action takes place outside The Writers Store during the daytime.
Subheader
Indent: Left: 0.0" Right: 0.0" Width: 6.0"
When a new scene heading is not necessary, but some distinction needs to be made in the action, you can use a subheader. But be sure to use these sparingly, as a script full of subheaders is generally frowned upon. A good example is when there are a series of quick cuts between two locations, you would use the term INTERCUT and the scene locations.
Action
Indent: Left: 0.0" Right: 0.0" Width: 6.0"
The narrative description of the events of a scene, written in the present tense. Also less commonly known as direction, visual exposition, blackstuff, description or scene direction.
Remember - only things that can be seen and heard should be included in the action.
Character
Indent: Left: 2.0" Right: 0.0" Width: 4.0"
When a character is introduced, his name should be capitalized within the action. For example: The door opens and in walks LIAM, a thirty-something hipster with attitude to spare.
A character's name is CAPPED and always listed above his lines of dialogue. Minor characters may be listed without names, for example "TAXI DRIVER" or "CUSTOMER."
Dialogue
Indent: Left: 1.0" Right: 1.5" Width: 3.5"
Lines of speech for each character. Dialogue format is used anytime a character is heard speaking, even for off-screen and voice-overs.
Parenthetical
Indent: Left: 1.5" Right: 2.0" Width: 2.5"
A parenthetical is direction for the character, that is either attitude or action-oriented. With roots in the playwriting genre, today, parentheticals are used very rarely, and only if absolutely necessary. Why? Two reasons. First, if you need to use a parenthetical to convey what's going on with your dialogue, then it probably just needs a good re-write. Second, it's the director's job to instruct an actor on how to deliver a line, and everyone knows not to encroach on the director's turf!
Extension
Placed after the character's name, in parentheses
An abbreviated technical note placed after the character's name to indicate how the voice will be heard onscreen, for example, if the character is speaking as a voice-over, it would appear as LIAM (V.O.).
Transition
Indent: Left: 4.0" Right: 0.0" Width: 2.0"
Transitions are film editing instructions, and generally only appear in a shooting script. Transition verbiage includes:
  • CUT TO:
  • DISSOLVE TO:
  • SMASH CUT:
  • QUICK CUT:
  • FADE TO:
As a spec script writer, you should avoid using a transition unless there is no other way to indicate a story element. For example, you might need to use DISSOLVE TO: to indicate that a large amount of time has passed.
Shot
Indent: Left: 0.0" Right: 0.0" Width: 6.0"
A shot tells the reader the focal point within a scene has changed. Like a transition, there's rarely a time when a spec screenwriter should insert shot directions. Once again, that's the director's job.

Examples of Shots:
  • ANGLE ON --
  • EXTREME CLOSE UP --
  • PAN TO --
  • LIAM'S POV --

Spec Script vs. Shooting Script

A "spec script" literally means that you are writing a screenplay on speculation. That is, no one is paying you to write the script. You are penning it in hopes of selling the script to a buyer. Spec scripts should stick stringently to established screenwriting rules.
Once a script is purchased, it becomes a shooting script, also called a production script. This is a version of the screenplay created for film production. It will include technical instructions, like film editing notes, shots, cuts and the like. All the scenes are numbered, and revisions are marked with a color-coded system. This is done so that the production assistants and director can then arrange the order in which the scenes will be shot for the most efficient use of stage, cast, and location resources.
A spec script should NEVER contain the elements of shooting script. The biggest mistake any new screenwriter can make is to submit a script full of production language, including camera angles and editing transitions. It can be very difficult to resist putting this type of language in your script. After all, it's your story and you see it in a very specific way. However, facts are facts. If you want to direct your script, then try to go the independent filmmaker route. But if you want to sell your script, then stick to the accepted spec screenplay format.

Screenplay Formatting Software

Screenwriting software makes producing an Industry-standard script simple and straightforward. Programs like Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter put your words into proper screenplay format as you type, letting you focus on a well-told story rather than the chore of margins and spacing.
There’s also a wide spectrum of outlining and development software at the ready to help you get your thoughts together before you begin writing. Popular story development software includes Dramatica Pro, a step-by-step guide to the storytelling process, Contour, a character-based structuring system, and Save the Cat!, a program centered on successful screenwriter Blake Snyder’s own proven methods.
And if you want a program that combines story development and formatting? Check out Movie Outline, an all-in-one development package that uses step outlining to build your story, scene-by-scene, and Montage, which includes both outline and submission tracking functions.

Script Presentation and Binding

Just like the format of a script, there are very specific rules for binding and presenting your script. The first page is the title page, which should also be written in Courier 12pt font. No graphics, no fancy pictures, only the title of your script, with “written by” and your name in the center of the page. In the lower left-hand or right-hand corner, enter your contact information. In the lower left-hand or right-hand corner you can put Registered, WGA or a copyright notification, though this is generally not a requirement.

Sample Title Page

Sample Screenplay Title Page
Below is a list of items you need to prepare your script to be sent out:
Follow these directions to properly bind your script:
  1. Print your title page and script on bright white three-hole punched paper.
  2. Insert the title page and the script into the script cover. The front and back covers remain blank. They are just there to protect your script. And remember: pictures and text on script covers scream amateur.
  3. Insert two brass fasteners in the first and third holes. Do NOT put a fastener in the middle hole.
  4. Flip the script over, and slide the brass washers over the arms of the fasteners. Spread the arms of the fasteners flat against the script. Use a Script Binding Mallet to ensure a tight, flat fit.
  5. Use the flat, self-seal script mailers to send your scripts out to buyers.

What can we do?

We cannot help those who do not want to be helped.
We cannot save those who do not want to be saved.
Those who don't want to be saved do not see a better place than where he rests.

What if that person is your beloved? Someone have special part in your life that will not replaced. And you know that he should be in better place, but he's not, and he can't see that better place you see for him and he won't move at all from his place at the moment. What can you do? What would you do?

West europe trip

In next 4-5 hours I will be arrived in amsterdam. Gonna be a 4 weeks trip till back to jakarta on 11 june 2012. I'm gratefull for this oportunity to visit europe with one of my respectful friend and my beloved. Actually I don't even think about going to europe. I mean,I don't really into traveling. I mean, I enjoy traveling, but traveling around the world is not something I really dream of to be acheived in my life. May be for my girl it is. But to be honest, i dont even hope to travel this far to see another part of the world and it just fell like blessing.

I just thinking that God prepare me for something bigger. Like going to USA to do some stuff, maybe make living there, or just some visit. Yeah, personally I prefer USA than europe, but it is not easy to get USA visa, and more easier if we have travel to europe before we got USA visa. So I guess, USA is still waiting for me. Haha...

And before I went to the airport last night, my mom tell me some stuff about my dad again. And that's feels like 2nd warning for me that I need to take care of my family before its too late. God, please save my dad..... I guess, after I got back from this trip, I do really really focus on rebuilt my relationship with dad. Before its too late for everything.

Holiness - kekudusan

Holiness is something so not popular nowdays even in people who called themself religious.

Tuhan berkata "kuduslah kamu sebab Aku kudus"

Being partner with God.

Walk the dream....

After watch modus anomali and the Q&A with the director and the cast of the film, I got this fire again. Some how I get the spirit of movie making and I feel so recharged and figuring myself in this world. I think I can see it.

I think I was good enough after making "the last one hour" and good enough to be a director, but after what I see today, I see there are so many homework to do if I want to land my feet in this career. And really I feel recharged. God, I know money should not be the issue, as long as I know and belive the my God is a rich God and supply my needs, He will provide, as I take the step in faith to trust it, not as I imagine what I want to do, but as I take the step. Out of my comfort zone.my dream just as far as my faith.

I really salute Joko anwar for his work. I hope one day I'm gonna meet him, not as a fan, student, or some nobody, but as someone he look as a fellow artist who make greatwork as well as he is.

Don't worry, be thankfull, God is in control

Psalm 37:1,3,5,7-8 (MSG)

Don't bother your head with braggarts or wish you could succeed like the wicked. In no time they'll shrivel like grass clippings and wilt like cut flowers in the sun.

[3] Get insurance with God and do a good deed, settle down and stick to your last. Keep company with God , get in on the best.

[5] Open up before God , keep nothing back; he'll do whatever needs to be done: He'll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon.

[7] Quiet down before God , be prayerful before him. Don't bother with those who climb the ladder, who elbow their way to the top.

[8] Bridle your anger, trash your wrath, cool your pipes---it only makes things worse. Before long the crooks will be bankrupt; God-investors will soon own the store.

10 tips on shooting low budget film

Here, from the d.p.’s, are ten tips for those looking to shoot smart-looking films on a low budget.

1. Let the camera create the atmosphere.
The small form factor of the DSLR “changes everything, including the mood on the set and the performances,” said Laxton. As Romanski remarked about her Leave Me Like You Found Me at her Q&A, the 5D’s size and still-camera look, coupled with her film’s tiny crew, allowed an intimate and somewhat surreptitious shoot as they avoided park rangers in the Sequoia National Park.

2. Lenses are the new emulsion.
Lifford remembered the days of celluloid, when low-budget filmmakers struggled to graduate from short ends and recans to shooting with more homogenous batches of stock. Now, DSLR shooting has brought with it a similar mentality. Said the Gayby d.p., “It used to be stock that you’d want from the same batch, and now it’s lenses.” Raval echoed Lifford, commenting on the differences in character and feel between lenses from different manufacturers and eras. For Sunset Stories (pictured above), Raval says he was “lucky enough to get a lens set” of Nikon prime still lenses to use with his Canon 5D.

3. Use the lens you need.
While Raval used a set of Nikons on his shoot, he did go outside of the Nikon family for one other lens when he needed to. “I had one lens, the [Canon] kit lens, that had image stabilization. Using a small camera like this means that it can be very shakey. We used a shoulder mount but sometimes, when shooting inside the car, I would use the kit lens with stabilization.

4. Location, location, location.
“If you don’t have a budget for lighting, the most important thing is to make sure you don’t wind up in a location you can’t make look good,” advised Lipes. Raval, who shot Sunset Stories with a lighting kit consisting of three lights and two gels, said he looked for colorful locations with ambient light. “The Canon 5D allows for a lot of available lighting,” he said.

5. Shoot it flat.
When Raval shot a short film, The Fickle, on the Alexa, he “shot it flat” so the director would have post-production options in color timing. To calm down the director, who was worried about the look, Raval used the Alexa’s color profiles to show him on a monitor what the final image would look like. “You can’t really do that with the 5D,” he said.

6. Don’t shoot it flat. “I do the opposite thing as PJ – I color in camera,” said Lifford. The Austin-based d.p. noted that on some jobs, despite contractual requirements, he wasn’t flown to L.A. to supervise the color correct. So, he likes to develop a look with a director and bake it into the footage as much as possible. “I love the idea of cameras like the RED, where you can reframe and recolor your film in post,” he said. “But there’s something about that taking away of the [on-set] decision-making process that bothers me. I tend to try to almost force a director to stick with a look we have come with ahead of time.”

7. Think about focus. For Sunset Stories, Raval often “opened up the Nikon still lenses really wide, and suddenly the depth of field was zero. You’d even get shots when one eye was in focus and the other not.” Consequently, it was important to think carefully about the desired focal point of a shot. When it came time to travel to New York to shoot Jonathan Lisecki’s Gayby, Lifford decided to bring along his trusted camera assistant because she “can pull focus like nobody’s business.” Besides, he added, “I knew we wouldn’t have much time for lighting.” (Lifford wound up training someone who had never gaffed before as his gaffer.)

8. Embrace your limitations.
“Limitations are helpful,” says Raval. Sunset Stories’ small G&E package forced Raval to “go with available lights,” which worked out great. When Lipes shot Lena Dunham’s Tiny Furniture in Dunham’s parents’ white-walled apartment, he and Dunham decided to embrace the location’s colorlessness. “If you’re locked in to situations like that, make it part of the aesthetic of film,” Lipes said. “If you can’t fight something, embrace it. There’s a lot you can do with your brain.

9. Lighting — keep it simple.
“I light the same if it’s film or video,” said Raval. “I like to accentuate what is already there, like a beautiful light coming in from the window, and I’m a big fan of using very few sources. Often times you can be on set and there are 20 lights pointing in every direction, but it’s nice to be simple.” Lifford agreed. “If you are sourcing from a few directions, the white-walled apartment is the enemy of cinematographers,” he said, “A good way to combat that is to use fewer sources so you don’t have shadows going every which way. The hottest point can be coming from the window, and then you can augment that with fill.” “My biggest pet peeve is blown-out windows [on indie films],” added Lifford. “As much as possible, I’ll try to expose for the windows.” For Gayby, Lifford’s package consisted of “two Joker Pars, a handful of Kinos, and a couple of harder Fresnels to rimlight people.”

10. Don’t give up on film.
“A lot of people are giving up on film, and that’s a tragedy,” said Lipes. “And it’s sad that movie theaters are only projecting digitally now, because it doesn’t look as good.” Lipes said he tries to think about the best format for every project, and if it’s film, to try and find a way to shoot it. “If it’s not possible, we’ll find another way,” he admits, saying he shot Girls on the Alexa, “which was not my first choice, but it worked out pretty well.” But for Opus Jazz, which he directed as well as shot, Lipes waited three-and-a-half years for a budget that would accomodate an anamorphic 35mm film shoot. “The person who inspired the movie, [Jerome Robbins], only directed one film [West Side Story], and it was on 70mm. We wanted to live up to his legacy by shooting on the highest quality possible.” As for film vs. digital when it comes to low-light situations, Lipes said, “When I shoot film I underexpose it a lot, so it’s just as fast as the Alexa. I can shoot natural light easier on film.”

Good story from singapore

Tentu saja, si ayah malu danmenjawab bukan, mungkin Anda salah orang, katanya.

4. Kamu akan sulit lepas dari “the first one”

5. Karena hubungan pacaran kamu bisa berubah menjadi “all about sex“

12 Unproductive days

It's been 12 days i spent with agus with this unmanageable client. I feel so not productive, tired, lost, exhausted.

This is my first time in sydney. At first I think this will be fun to spend some extended days in sydney with the client. After did the work, holiday time. Even I'm planning to do preproduction of my short movie "last one hour" and in the high spirit of make the movie, i think it was a pretty good deal to spend sometimes in australia. At least that was my opinion.

I was totaly wrong! This couple live a happy go lucky way of life. Unmanaged schedule is the second main issue. The main issue is they do not put high value on our works. The documentation & the video we likely to do favor for them. That bring us to help them and follow them where ever they have things to do, and the rest time remain, which was so short, we use to taking picture & video the best we can. The result is... Fuckin' shit! Those kind of things usually we did in 3 days for photo & videoshot, it takes 12 days with result messed up unfinished video material.

They didn't apreciate our time. And one of the worst thing was the script i made for their video. I made those script after I interviewed them from the first day we met, And I did it with detail and ... With heart. Most of the script is narration, because they can't do act at all. The brides tobe still more cooperative, and somehow have a little willing to do the act I'm asking for. But the groom to be is damn asshole. I really take it personally when the narration i wrote he changed as his will. just because he don't know the words "cupid" and some unacceptable reason for me. I mean, I made the script with tought, flow, I choose the words carefully to make a good story, and he do not want to just read and change them "seenak jidat".

Tobe continued....

Quiet time. 27 jan 2012. 01am

Luke 17:6 : Jesus said ," you don't need more faith, there is no 'more' or 'less' in faith..."
Faith is like truth, half truth equals one lie. You cannot have half faith, only have faith or no faith. Faith is like shield. Faith make you able to stand strong.

Do whatever expected to you and say "whatever we told to do, we did" expect no more. Because we are called to be a servant.

Kisah 4 Lilin

Suasana begitu sunyi sehingga terdengarlah percakapan mereka

Yang pertama berkata: “Aku adalah Damai.” “Namun manusia tak mampu menjagaku: maka lebih baik aku mematikan diriku saja!” Demikianlah sedikit demi sedikit sang lilin padam.
